BroadLight Opens Japan Office and Hires Country Manager

BroadLight Aggressively Pursues Supplying and Supporting PON Products in Japan

February 14, 2006 Mountain View, Calif. - Following a very successful GPON introduction at the FOE Japan show, BroadLight today announced that it has established an office in Tokyo Japan and hired Mr. Toshinari Hayashi as Country Manager. The new BroadLight Japan office will provide sales and support services to BroadLight’s existing customers
and spearhead the company’s aggressive pursuit of additional GPON design wins throughout Japan.

“At last month’s FOE Japan, we were very pleased at the overwhelming response we received for our working GPON demonstration,” said Andrew Vought, CEO of BroadLight. “The new BroadLight Japan office, under the leadership of Mr. Hayashi, will be instrumental in turning this interest into design wins and providing the region with outstanding service and support.”

In a separate release issued in January 2006, BroadLight also increased its presence in Japan with the addition of the Clavis Company as its distributor. Mr. Toshinari will work closely with the Clavis Company to provide the highest level of sales and support services throughout the region.

About Toshinari Hayashi
Mr. Toshinari Hayashi has nearly 30 years experience working with leading technology and semiconductor companies. Prior to joining BroadLight, Mr. Toshinari was Director of Sales for Centillium Japan K.K. where he won several key design wins with major Japanese manufacturers. Before that, he held various sales positions at Intel, Level One Communications, IBM, Digital Equipment and Fujitsu Limited. At each of these companies, Mr. Hayashi was instrumental in building major business with the top Japanese manufacturers.

Mr. Toshinari received a B.S. in Engineering with a major in super-conconducting applications and electromagnetics from the Waseda University in Tokyo.
